Police make arrests in recent string of business B&Es

The Campbell River RCMP Street Crime Unit took a key step in an ongoing investigation into the recent rash of businesses being broken into in Campbell River.

The break and enters have resulted in tens of thousands of dollars of property being taken, as well as significant damage to all the businesses.

On Jan. 13 it executed a search warrant in the 600 block of Nursery Road. During the search, the Street Crime Unit located property linked to numerous break and enters, as well as a stolen vehicle that was recovered on the property.

“We are very proud of the work done by our members. The rise in break and enters was unnerving for business owners and our community and we worked diligently to solve these crimes and prevent more victims and now we are able to put forward charges on this string of crimes,” said Const. Sara Clark media relations officer for Campbell River RCMP.

Two people were arrested, 42-year-old Alfred Nelson and 51-year-old Bernice Wallace. Both were charged with break and enter and possession of stolen property and are in custody and before the courts.

Anyone with any further information on this investigation is asked to contact Campbell River RCMP at (250) 286-6221 or Crimestoppers at 1(800)222-8477.
