May held the promise of sunshine and warm weather, but unlike last year, it disappointed.

Though the monthly high was 27.5 there were not many days nearing that mark with 12 days of precipitation and a low temperature of -1.5 degrees, according to Environment Canada.

Compared to last year it was a damp and dreary month. In 2016 May only brought four days of precipitation.

In the last ten years there have been more damp months of May, the worst being in 2011 with 20 days of precipitation and 97.4 mm of rain in total, according to Environment Canada records. But May 2017 comes second for the most rainfall in the month at 89.5 mm.

So far June hasn’t been very sunny either but, fingers crossed, this weekend is looking way up. Environment Canada is forecasting highs of 29 degrees on Saturday and Sunday and 27 degrees on Monday.
