Hiker killed in fall on Kings Peak

Man who died following a fall near Gold River

The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died following a fall near Gold River on last Saturday.

He was Kevin Edward Allen Huntington, aged 27, of Campbell River.

On the afternoon of Aug. 13, Huntington and a friend were hiking up a steep section of trail on the Kings Peak Trail about 10 kilometres east of Gold River.

Huntington slipped and fell over an embankment a distance of more than 100 metres.

He was deceased at the scene.

The BC Coroners Service and RCMP continue to investigate this death.

The family of Huntington has been notified of his death.
