Campbell River's Jolly Giant store robbed with a hatchet

Campbell River RCMP are asking for the public's assistance in identifying a suspect in the robbery of the Jolly Giant Convenience Store.

Campbell River RCMP are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a male who is responsible for committing an armed robbery at the Jolly Giant Convenience Store during the late evening hours of August 7, 2016.

The unknown male suspect entered the store armed with a hatchet and obtained numerous packages of cigarettes prior to fleeing, said Const. Jackelynn Biller of the Campbell River RCMP. The clerk was not injured during the incident and immediately contacted the police. The suspect departed the area on foot and the Police Dog Section was called in to assist but was unable to locate the suspect.

The suspect was wearing a dark coloured jacket with a light coloured hood pulled up over his head, light coloured pants, gloves and was wearing a face cover. Photographs are attached to assist in identifying the suspect.

The investigation is ongoing and Police are requesting that anyone with information about this incident contact the Campbell River RCMP at 250-286-6221.
