A member of the Canadian Armed Forces, who spent time at CFB Esquimalt on Vancouver Island, has been charged with multiple sex crimes.

According to the Department of National Defence, Corporal Colin McGregor was working in Washington, D.C. with Canadian Defence Liaison Staff when another Canadian Armed Forces member discovered a recording device at their private home in January of this year.

At least one of the recordings on the device showed video of a sexual assault against an armed forces member at CFB Esquimalt in 2011, stated a news release.

Now based in New Brunswick, Cpl. McGregor faces charges that include sexual assault, voyeurism, theft, transmission of intimate image and possession of child pornography.

In accordance with the military justice system, the department says the matter could result in a possible court martial but that has yet to be determined.

Anyone with information related to the investigation is asked to contact the Canadian Forces National Investigation Service at 1-888-812-3647.
