Hamper Fund still needs some help
The Knights of Columbus is thanking the community for their increased response to the needs of the Community Christmas Hamper Fund.
Various organizations and clubs as well as individual members of the community have been to the depot in the Tyee Plaza bringing food, toys and money to help them achieve their goal. This year there will be 1,202 hampers assembled and delivered.
But as of Friday, the fund had reached 73.4 per cent of the money required to pay for the food that has been purchased to augment that which has been brought in to the depot. One hundred per cent of the money donated is used to purchase the additional food required. No money is spent on toys as the community supplies those.
There are still a few days left to make a donation to allow the Knights to meet their obligations. Their depot is located between the former SuperValu store and Banners restaurant and is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The phone number is 250-286-6361. The delivery date for the hampers is this Saturday and the Knights once again ask for help in assembling the hampers and then in their delivery. While some help is required on Friday afternoon, the majority of the volunteer effort is required for Saturday morning at 8 a.m.
