Fishing vessel bursts into flames
No one was injured in a boat fire at the government wharf at Discovery Harbour Monday afternoon.
Campbell River Fire Chief Ian Baikie says: “Crews arrived to find a fire inside the cabin of a 60-foot fishing vessel and high winds at the time created a significant potential for the fire to spread to other vessels that were tied alongside the boat.
“The first crews to arrive quickly knocked back the flames and damage to the vessel was limited to the wheelhouse and cabin.”
Chief Baikie says the fire appears to be related to an oil-fired stove that was in use at the time.
