Do the pumpkin smash: Lauryn McKinley, 11, throws her pumpkin from the back of a truck carrying several hundred pounds of pumpkin destined for compost. The annual Pumpkin Smash, hosted by Comox Strathcona Waste Management, took place last Friday and Monday in the Strathcona Gardens parking lot to help families to keep their pumpkins out of the landfill.
