Crews search for missing man
An 81-year-old man is still missing somewhere between Campbell River and Port Hardy.
William Fisher Sr., from Port Hardy, remains the focus of a ground search underway between Campbell River and Port Hardy which started Friday.
Fisher was last seen on Thursday, purchasing gas at Sayward Junction, on his way home to Port Hardy from a medical appointment in Campbell River. He did not return home as planned, and police were notified Friday afternoon by concerned family.
Port Hardy RCMP completed checks with area hotels and businesses throughout Friday evening. Throughout Saturday and Sunday, both air and ground search crews were out, attempting to locate the white coloured 1995 Chrysler Concorde Fisher was driving at the time. The ground search has focused on the roadway between Sayward and Port Hardy, with air crews examining a larger geographical area.
Today, Search and Rescue and Port Hardy RCMP are continuing their search, focusing their efforts between Campbell River and Port Hardy, as well as logging roads throughout the area. Poor weather conditions have grounded the air crews for the time being.
An assessment of the search will occur later this afternoon, to determine what future efforts will be made.
Anyone who may have seen Fisher, or his vehicle, are asked to contact the Port Hardy RCMP at 250-949-6335.
