CR calls for annual stewardship nominations
Who’s making a green difference in Campbell River? It’s time to celebrate outstanding environmental action with the City of Campbell River’s 10th annual Stewardship Awards Nominate individuals, groups, development, business, industry representatives and youth for outstanding environmental achievements by Sept. 9. This year’s award categories include: Air quality (is there a wise wood burner near you?) Pesticide free – who’s using integrated pest management strategies, or gone organic? Water/Energy Conservation – who’s making the most of our precious resources? Habitat Protection/Creation – who’s protecting and enhancing natural spaces? Waste Reduction – who’s a role model waste watcher? Other Areas of Environmental Excellence – your creative ideas go here! To nominate an awards candidate, download an application form from the ‘What’s New’ section of the City’s website at www.campbellriver.ca. Paper copies are available at City Hall, the Sportsplex and the Community Centre. Awards will be presented during the annual Haig-Brown Festival on River’s Day from 12-4 p.m. Sun., Sept. 25 at 2250 Campbell River Road. The Haig-Brown Festival is sponsored by the Museum at Campbell River and Greenways Land Trust. There will be environmental and literary displays, fishing demonstrations, children’s activities and crafts, tours, readings, a book sale, live music and tasty food.
