Drunk driver went the wrong way

On Friday, shortly before midnight, police were notified by a motorist that a suspected impaired driver was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of the Inland Island Highway.

The witness followed the vehicle east on Jubilee Parkway and then north on the Island Highway. During this time, the offending driver ran two red lights and nearly drove into a ditch. When the woman pulled into a parking lot, the driver following her, blocked her in her vehicle. When police arrived the 24-year-old female driver showed signs of impairment. She was taken back to the RCMP detachment for further blood-alcohol readings.
