Cinderella: A Pantomime continues through the season
Traditional Pantomime is performed after Boxing Day and before New Year’s Eve, so in keeping with this tradition Rivercity Players has shows of their latest performance, Cinderella: A Pantomime, on Dec. 27, 28, 29 and 30 at 7:30 p.m. each night. The Players are inviting the public to come on down to Rivercity Stage, 1080 Hemlock Street for a treat you won’t want to miss. The antics of this very mixed-age cast will leave you laughing until your sides ache.
Putting on a show – any show – involves many different skill sets and Cinderella is no exception. Just the number of costumes (and the quick changes of them by the performers) boggles the mind. Scenery and props have to be light and (relatively) easy to move by the backstage wizards and Rivercity Players has a team of old guys who like nothing more than creating something out of not much – at least it keeps them out of trouble most of the time. Collective thinking solves most of the problems involved with creating a set but sometimes things go awry (ask them about the pumpkin coach sometime).
And let’s not forget the group of talented set painters who work their magic on the creations from the building crew and our props gurus who find “just that right piece” to make the scene perfect, every show is truly a group effort.
Tickets are still available for the upcoming performances and can be purchased at Impressions Custom Framing (250.286.1612), CR Laundromat (250.286.6562), by cash only at these locations.
