Dodd’s Furniture and Mattress held a grand opening last Saturday to celebrate the company’s newest location, in Campbell River.

Gordy, and son Love Dodd, signed over the lease from Sears last August, making it the pair’s third store owned and operated by the Dodd’s family.

Both Gordy and Love Dodd were on hand Saturday for a grand opening event that included games for kids, Sno-Kones, cotton candy and hot dogs.

Mayor Andy Adams also attended the event, accepting the honour of cutting the ribbon with a large pair of bright red scissors to officially mark the opening of the store.

The 20,000 square foot building underwent $100,000 in renovations to modify the interior of the store and attached warehouse space, including moving walls, new flooring, washrooms, lunch room and heating system. The new store is comprised of a 16,000 sq.ft. showroom and 4,000 sq.ft. warehouse.

Construction finished in mid-February.
