Tree chipping benefits soup kitchen
Could it be possible to do a write up about it ?
Island Return It is doing it’s fourth annual Christmas Tree Chipping Jan. 4 at Island Return It Recycling Centre, 1580-f Willow St, beside Esso or at the end of 16th ave West.
All proceeds are going to the Saturday Soup Kitchen, which is an organization that provides meals for people in needs. Also Curt’s Landscaping and Tree Services will donate his time and services to mulch the trees between 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Sound of winners
Shoreline Musical Theatre Society is thankful to everyone in the community who supported “The Sound of Music” production at the Tidemark Theatre.
As part of that production, a raffle was held. The raffle winners are:
- 1st prize – “The Secret Garden” painting – Bev Coleman, Courtenay
- 2nd prize – Chemainus Theatre package – Teresa Burgoyne – Campbell River
- 3rd prize – Hand-carved Walnut Jewellery Box – Jackie Leigh, Campbell River
- 4th prize – Hand-carved Walnut Wall Sconce – Leo Myles, Campbell River
Jim Miller, Island Fever Travel, and Jacquie Gordon donated the prizes.
Area kids win forestry art contest
Hundreds of children got out their crayons and pencils to show what the forest means to them.
The Association of BC Forest Professionals and the Truck Loggers Association were thrilled with the creative pictures entered in their art contest. Nine children emerged as winners of the National Forest Week contest held by these two organizations and three of the winners were from the Campbell River area:
- Age 4-5:
First Place: Maese Shea, age 5 of Quadra Island
- Age 6-8:
First Place: Kiana Danielson, age 8 of Campbell River
- Age 9-12:
Runner Up: Trent Perras, age 10 of Campbell River.
