Christmas Cantata to begin Advent season of Campbell River United Church

Choirs from Campbell River United Church and Knox United Church of Parksville will present the West Coast Premiere of a contemporary  Christmas Cantata  written by Rick Gunn, Minister of Youth and Music at Bedford United in Bedford, NS.

The cantata is influenced by Gunn’s training in jazz and many years as a professional jazz musician. This is a brand new cantata not yet published and made available to the choirs through the friendship of Knox United director, Alan Whitmore and the composer.

Knox United and Campbell River United Choirs have been working separately under the direction of Alan Whitmore in Parksville and Linda Cannon in Campbell River. The two choirs combine for performances at Campbell River United Church at 415 Pincecrest Rd. on Sunday, Dec. 8 at 10 p.m.  and then in Parksville on Sunday, Dec. 15.

Everyone is invited to hear this new work and  prepare your heart and mind for the Christmas Season.

Also this Advent Season CR United Church will participate in an Ecumenical Blue Christmas service at St. Peters Anglican Church on Dec. 18 at 7 p.m.

There will be two Christmas Eve services held on Tuesday the 24th.  The first service will be a Family Candle Light Service at 7 p.m.  Later at 10 p.m. there will be a Christmas Eve Communion Service.

An invitation is extended to all of Campbell River to come and share with Campbell River United Church in celebrating the Christmas Season.
