A docent way to communicate about art

CRArtGalleryDocentTraining.jpg

Do you enjoy working with kids? Do you wonder what makes artists tick? Do you find learning new things stimulating? If you answered yes to these questions, then the Campbell River Art Gallery has a great opportunity for you on February 6.

The Campbell River Art Gallery is looking for docents to assist with gallery tours and art activities with school groups. Docent is a title given to volunteers who serve as guides and educators. No prior docent experience is necessary. The gallery will provide training sessions for teaching techniques. This position is a rewarding and upbeat experience in the volunteer world. Perks include but are not limited to: meeting exhibiting artists, lectures on art history and fine art techniques, a lecture series pass, a social atmosphere, and a creative outlet.

Training begins Wednesday, Feb. 6 at 11:30 a.m. in the CR Art Gallery studio, with a talk on teaching techniques and an introduction to the Gallery’s school programs.  Light refreshments will be provided. For more information contact Shannon Proctor-McLeod, Programs Manager, at 250-287-2261 or programs@crartgallery.ca
