Bike to Work Week barbecue today
Here’s another reason to take in the upcoming Bike to Work Week events in Campbell River: the barbecue and bike marketplace being held today from 4-6 p.m. at Spirit Square.
Cycle to the event, and the barbecue is free.
Marine Harvest Canada is supplying and barbequing the salmon.
There will be burger fixings from McDonalds and Healthy Way Vitamins plus a drink from Koala Springs.
The Campbell River Christian School will provide valet parking and security for your bike so you can relax and enjoy your supper.
The bike marketplace is an opportunity for local bike shops and community groups to show you what they have to offer.
Enjoy displays by:
- Sam Whittingham, the fastest man in the world on two human powered wheels.
- The CR Head Injury Society.
- Waterwise CR.
- Greenways Land Trust.
- City of Campbell River Sustainability Department.
There’ll also be fun with the City of Campbell River Recreation and Culture Department, Grannies Supporting Grannies will sell Bumbrellas, and you can check out the Trailrider, an adaptable set of wheels for trail riders with disabilities.
For the kids, the Strathcona Triathlon club will host a helmet decorating contest, with prizes from McDonalds.
There will also be tricycle races for adults.
Bike riders can enter draw for lots of prizes – including a mountain bike from Spokes, a weekend at the Herriot Bay Inn, gift certificates for dinner and lots of bike gear.
